Can I clean my diamond ring w/ toothpaste?

My wedding set needs a really good clean-up and the jewelry cleaner I bought at the store does not seem to be cutting it. I heard toothpaste was a good way to clean my ring but then someone told me that the toothpaste was too abrasive, is that true? read more . . .
